Welcome Spring!

We’ve been watching for these guys for a few weeks now.  Every year we start searching about February in the bark mulch by the sidewalk for a glimpse of hope…first just a tip of green shows and then more and more until one day – a bloom!

Spring always comes, no matter how long and cold the Northwest winter.  Welcome Spring!

Next will be the beautiful red tulips!

Colors of Spring

I love that Mike keeps our yard so beautiful.  I plant the flowers and he keeps the bushes, trees and lawn looking great.  Jenna stopped by the other day complimented us on how beautiful our yard looks this spring.  I love the colors of these PINK and GREEN trees.  The colors of Spring!  I snapped these pictures early one morning.  The sun was making everything so bright and pretty.DSC_1818

A new wreath on my door to welcome Spring!  We didn’t have an extremely cold winter but we are loving the change of seasons – more light especially in the evening, warmth, flowers and sunshine!

Happy Spring!

DSC_1755

A few days of rain this week and then a few days of warm and beautiful sunshine – a happy spring.  I was fixing dinner one evening and the sun was just streaming so beautiful in our backyard so I grabbed this picture.  I love the spring green color of our maple tree and the red tulips.  (Crazy wind storm has them leaning but not defeated!)  I can’t wait for dinners on the patio and evenings by the fire pit.  But for now I am enjoying the flowering trees, tulips and extended daylight hours of SPRING!DSC_1761

Spring Weather....

Today at some point it snowed, rained, hailed, and was windy and sunny.
I guess it is spring!

Spring Tulips

I love tulips. I watch for them to poke up through the ground, knowing that when I see them, winter is over for sure. (This year I wasn't so sure because winter's hold seemed so strong!) The little sprouts seem so brave, making their way up through the still frozen ground - but they know that they will win over the cold and bloom with a splash of color and spring will return once again. Thank goodness!

I learned from a fellow blogger that San Diego has no tulips. It doesn't get cold enough there for the bulbs to do what they do all winter long in preparation for their beautiful season of blooming. WOW - learning this brought all kinds of life lessons to my mind. I wonder how my seasons of cold and dark have helped to prepare me to become something beautiful. (Here I was wishing for an easy life of "San Diego weather.") I wonder what about me is capable of changing from a cold landscape to a beautiful flowerbed of color. I wonder what good thing is around the corner if I'm just patient and trusting. I wonder how my hard work of "planting bulbs" will eventually pay off in beautiful blooms....

Tulips make me think of faith and endurance and change. Even though it seems that Winter's hold is so strong, I know that my tulips are under that cold ground and are just waiting to bloom. Every year the beauty of it takes me by surprise - I am thrilled that it has happened again! Welcome my pretty tulips!

Did I Speak Too Soon?

Okay, it is snowing as I speak - well, as I write actually. I woke up Sunday morning and found SNOW - regardless of blooming crocuses and an order for warmer weather - there was snow on the ground. Cruel Mother Nature is teasing us with a few warm and sunny days and then a relapse. But, it melted quickly. BUT, tonight it is snowing again! I just went to get the mail with Annie and we both came back covered in SPRING SNOW. I am not "dreaming of a White Easter" but I do remember one once back in Pittsburgh!

Spring - Please Come!

We watch every year for the first little bulb to poke its head through the ground. The girls get so excited - me too! We have had a VERY cold and snowy winter here in the northwest and it seems that a month ago we were having school cancelations for snow - but here is our first crocus! There is hope for spring! YEAH! We discovered this brave little flower when Tammy was visiting.
