Pinterest Fun

We all have had a great time looking up things on Pinterest.  Melissa decided to make a fancy drink.  Her cooking class this summer has kept us trying fun things.  We didn't add the rum or what ever alcohol was in the full recipe.... but it was a tasty treat!  And beautiful too!

They're all working against me....

Woke up feeling like cleaning carpets today.  Got the rugs and carpets done.  Laid them outside to dry.  Left to do some shopping thinking, my rugs are so clean.  Came back to this..... I wonder why Annie's hair is EVERYWHERE!!!!

Shooting with the Miamaids

Mike helped out with a very fun Miamaid activity.  We went up to the Stewarts and he taught us how to shoot.  Every girl was excited to go.  Kyra Harames won the shooting contest - beginners luck, she had never shot before!  We had a great time!

Happy Birthday Carol!!

What a beautiful August day.  Melissa and I took Carol out to lunch to celebrate her birthday.  We have discovered a wonderful cafe in Manito Park, by my favorite... Duncan Gardens.  We met and had yummy smoothies and sandwiches and then walked thru the gardens.  Fun to be with Melissa!  Fun to be with Carol!  Happy summer day.  Hard to believe it will be Sept. soon....

Sunflower Miracle

I have discovered that the birds in our backyard love black sunflower seeds.  I fill a bird feeder  Mike keeps the bird feeder full.  But these little guys eat fast and it's empty before I know it!  One day, after having been empty for awhile, I noticed that one of the sunflower seeds had sprouted!  I wanted to put more seeds in the feeder but couldn't help but admire this tenacious little sprouting seed!  So I took the time to transplant the little seedling to our garden.

Passage of time, add sunshine, and water.......

Motorcycle Mama?

Katie has decided to learn to ride a motorcycle.  Crazy girl.  She is determined!  She has the talent of follow thru.  So she researched what she needed for a license, the classes she needed to take and got right on it.  Mike is supporting her of course...  She is a cutie.  Her biggest payback came when she rode down the street past the neighborhood kids, pulled into our driveway, parked and took off her helmet, letting her long hair shake out.  The neighborhood boys all stared and one said, "Hey, that's a girl!!!" 

Someone else is having fun with motorcycles...Mike and Andrew have had a few fun rides together...

Senior Pictures

How is it possible that Katie will be a senior this year?  She got Emma Vidmar to take her senior pictures.  I love the happy, silly Katie that these pictures capture.  Cannot believe how fast time has gone by.  Katie is a beautiful, wonderful amazing daughter.  She is successful in so many ways.  She has made good choice consistantly with friends and church and school.  I love her so much.  She is not "getting littler, just bigger..."  What a joy to be her mother!

Girls Camp 2012

I was called to go to girls camp this year as a 2nd level leader.  I could never have imagined what a blessing it would be to go.  What a fun and spiritual week it was.  I loved the women I worked with and the youth leaders and the girls.  I haven't been to camp in so long.  Just visited the last several years for one evening with the YW presidency.  Years ago I went as the nurse several times but that was when Tammy was young.  I just didn't know what I was missing.  Favorite memories are making water bottles for the girls, getting to know Syney Otte, being with Adrienne Daines and Karis Lake, the birds drinking from the water trough, Sister Haymore and her sweet direction to the girls, reconnecting with Megan Guinn and our canoe trip on the lake, Sister Herdink and her steam rolling, the girls dancing to One Direction, the magic show, being there for Lissa when she fainted....hiking with Jenna, talking with Diane Cox at water front, snowcones from Jenna, seeing Megan and Melissa every once in awhile and getting updates and hugs, the absolute beauty of being in the woods, the trees and the lake, taking bathes with baby wipes....
