BEST. JOKE. EVER!

DSC_1126

Happy Easter. I got out my Easter things and started laughing out loud when I found this little robin’s egg and this nest. And I was alone in the house! I’m so glad I tucked it away and could re-live this funny story.

By the way – can you tell the real egg from the candy egg in this photo?

This is the best joke ever, ever, ever, and remembering it I still want to roll on the floor laughing until my stomach muscles hurt or I pee my pants – which ever comes first.

I didn’t have a blog back then so I am blogging it now so I can have it in my journal. This is the story. A few years ago on Easter Sunday the little girls found a robin egg outside just laying on the fence, abandoned by the mother bird.

Being the little nuturers they are, they brought it in the house and made a little nest for it and put it under a lamp to keep it warm. They were sure it would hatch and they could be mothers to a little baby bird. They were so excited to show Jayna, Jenny and Chelsea when they came over for Easter dinner. It was the activity of the day. Such a buzz about a little egg you never did see!
Well, after dinner was done, I got this terrible idea to tease my children.
I got a blue candy malted milk egg (same color and size as the real egg) and went upstairs with Aunt Carol and Aunt Diane. All they knew was to come along and video the whole thing. I innocently asked the girls how the egg was doing and any signs of hatching? They gave me the update – not yet but any minute they were sure the egg was going to hatch.

“Let me see that egg please… “ I switched to the candy egg in my hand unseen by them.

“Oh this thing is dead guys. See?” And I put it in my teeth and bit it in half.

Their eyes went wide, their jaws dropped to the floor. They couldn't believe what I had just done. Megan went to her room screaming that I ate - no "killed" - their precious egg. (Scarred for life - again.) Then as they realized the joke, the rest of the girls started laughing. Carol, Diane and I were rolling on the floor at this point. It was so funny to see their shocked faces when I ate their egg.

I cannot even see a blue malted milk egg at Easter and not start to laugh.

Made me LAUGH out loud when I read this post. I had totally forgotten about the joke. So wish I would've been there to see it in person, but it's a hoot to read. You are so mean Mom. You know they'll be talking about this at your funeral! Well, Megan will. :)

You have to love a great joke...especially if can do long term damage.
