I wasn’t sure what to expect from Puerto Rico. I knew it was an American Territory. We docked at San Juan, and it was much bigger than I expected. It seemed American, just with Spanish everywhere – on the road signs, and business signs. We didn’t have much planned because there was no beach. So we got off the boat and headed to an old fort – mostly to make Mike happy, but it was really cool. Melissa brought her camera and captured some great pics of the architecture and local flavor. We did some shopping too and kept saying Happy Birthday to Megan. We tried to use our cell phones to call Tammy but didn’t have much luck with service.
The old fort was from the 1700’s and it was so interesting to see the living quarters and the windows where they would shoot against invaders. Mike wore his neon shirt so he was easy to spot. It was really hot and humid. One cool sight was a gecko hanging off the wall.
Shopping was hot so we kept looking for air conditioned shops. The highlight was a stop at Starbucks for a strawberry frapachino…
BIRTHDAY GIRL!
