Sunday-Day Two–Sea Day

We had a chance to sleep in a bit.  (Still paying for that night flight!)  But we still made it for a yummy selection of breakfast foods.  The kids loved the hash browns.  I got fresh fruit every morning! And of course, the ice cream.  Must stop by for a cone.  Katie is a pro at filling the cones with soft ice cream.  Thank you Dairy Queen.IMG_1375IMG_1376

Then we headed up for mini-golf at the sports court!  IMG_1382

After that was fun in the sun at the pool.  We spent longer than we should have and Megan and Mike got sun-burned.  But how wonderful to soak up some Vitamin D and read a book and just relax.

DSC_8832We went to an ice skating show before we went to dinner.  What an amazing show.  The ship has an ice skating rink on the 3rd floor and the performers were fantastic!  And we sat on the 3rd row!  WOW.  Amazing costumes and flips!  It was a great show.

Then we got dressed for dinner – our first formal night.  How fun to get all fancy with new shoes and new clothes.  Andrew and Mike were looking sharp in their suits and the girls looked beautiful.  We had so much fun shopping for all the formal nights.  Check out Megan’s new shoes.  Now she is about 5’9”.  She is already getting tall.  But aren’t these shoes sweet!

The waiters remembered that the girls like to drink ginger ale and Katie likes Sprite.  And Katie loves the Caesar salad with ranch, and we all like sour dough rolls.  Tonight, Katie ordered duck – she is soooo brave!  She was doing good until she got a piece of the skin…then the gagging started.  And Andrew and Megan tried scallops.  Melissa ordered exotic fruit and she loved the meringue strawberry dessert.

Marvin is our room attendant from Honduras.  He is so soft spoken and nice.  He’s been working on the ship for 4 years and hates to leave his wife and 2 sons.  He wants to continue until he can pay off his house and then he will switch to auto body.  He had a surprise for us in the rooms after dinner.  He made towel animals!  So dang cute.  We love them!  We left him notes to say thank you!  All the kids rooms are quite the hurricane – so I appreciate all that Marvin does.

We changed out of our formal clothes and headed down to the evening show and then to play card games at the Café Promenade.  Fun night.
