Pumpkin Patch
Every year we go to a little farm by Greenacres Elementary School to pick our pumpkins.
This is the Udich Farm. It is a hold out - an old farm from the 40's or 50's - the neighborhoods have grown around it but it still stands with it's fields of produce. We met Mr. Udich when he was in his 80's and we bought pumpkins from him for about 2 years. (He gave me the secret to fixing Sweet Dumpling Squash - lots of butter and brown sugar!) Then one year we came back and found that he had died and his son was running the farm. So the next Mr. Udich took over and we've been seeing him once a year for about 3 years now.
This year because of the crazy early frost, Mr. Udich had to harvest all his pumpkins and put them in piles of hay and cover them with tarps out in the fields to keep them from freezing. So we really went to a "pumpkin pile" this year. But we still had to take the wagon and go out an "pick our own," even if it was already picked and sitting in a pile. I think this makes up for the fake Christmas tree I put up every year. We may not cut down our own Christmas tree - but we do pick our own pumpkins....

Don't you love pumpkin patches!? It was so much fun to go this year to Linder Farms. We started a new tradtion for the fall and I loved it.
You got some great ones (although we're missing the famous butt pumpkin) and the kids did a good job carving them.
Your front porch looked awesome! Someday I'll have one to decorate. :)
